Television License

When you buy your television you will be asked for your name and address at the store. The Trésor Publique will then send you the necessary forms and cost. This could be a few months after you bought you television.

Phone

You will need to go to your nearest France Telecom for this. You will need to show them proof of residence, i.e., electric bill. Calling France from another country: you will need to dial the country code and drop the first 0 of the phone number. For example, if the phone number that you need to call is 06.11.11.11.11 then you will dial 0033-6.11.11.11.11, notice that we dropped the 0 in front of the 6.

Voltage

Computer: If you are bringing you computer from the United States check if there is a voltage swtich on the back, it will be a little red switch that will be set on 110 and can be changed to 220. If you have this then you can simply switch it to 220 and then buy a power cord here in France and it will work fine.
